I have been drawing and painting for over 25 years and, having left full time employment in 2012, now concentrate on developing my work as an artist and printmaker. My images originate primarily from drawings and sketches made on location which I then use as a basis for printmaking and mixed media painting.
In Printmaking, I am concentrating on developing expertise in Intaglio techniques including Etching, Solar Plate Etching and Drypoint as well as Monoprint. I take inspiration from the landscape and the foliage I gather whilst out walking at home or abroad.
In painting, I enjoy working with a variety of water-based media (watercolour, gouache, acrylic and ink) as well as using different techniques for incorporating texture into my work or creating a surface on which to begin, such as traditional Gesso.
I particularly enjoy the 'happy accidents' that can occur when developing artwork.
I have exhibited with groups at a variety of galleries including Southampton City Art Gallery & Foyer, The Oxmarket Gallery, Winchester Discovery Centre, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, St Barbe Museum and The Hansard Gallery Shop.
I am a member of Red Hot Open Access Print Workshop, Winchester Art Club and Chandlers Ford Art Group, and am Exhibition Manager for Chandlers Ford Art Group.
